Developing an abundant mentality helps you feel motivated,  happy, and grateful for what you have.

If I were to ask you if you had everything you need, what would your answer be? I think the answer would be about a 50/50 split between, yes, I do have everything I need. And no, I don't have everything I need.

All too often, we may say things like, Oh I need this or I need that. But do we really need those things?

Consider that the bare necessities for anyone's survival are Food, water, clothing, sleep, and shelter. If we were to think for a moment about this, then we would quickly come to the conclusion that, yes, I do have everything I need. It isn't long after this, worry and fear seem to creep in…along with other perceived wants. Things like certain foods, clothing that make a statement, a dream "shelter/house"…the list of things we think we need can go on if we allow ourselves to give into "what would people think if they saw me wearing that?!" --allowing external perceptions alter what we might know to be true…--so at this point we should reach the conclusion that the definition of needs can have a direct influence on what we truly need. Is this making sense?

Someone can have such an extravagant idea of what they need, based on their station or lot in life. For example, a billionaire with a large house, businesses, cars etc…will have a definition of needs different from someone who does not even have a home.

Back to our question. Does having an abundant mindset really matter?

The answer is yes. When we feel or tell ourselves that we are lacking a certain thing…our minds immediately begin to kick into overdrive telling us we "need" to have this or that. Notice the need here is "to have".

Step 1 in developing an Abundance Mindset is to look at our definition of "Needs". What is it? If your definition of Needs is more than Food, water, clothing, sleep, and shelter, you may want to redefine your definition of Needs.

Consider also the following spiritual principle in your life from Matthew 6:25-33

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Stay tuned for the next step in developing our Abundant Mindset, but start here this week and note how life changes for you, for the better.

Could I be the Secret Gambler?
July 24, 2022
We can learn from every situation and from every person. The actions of both Pinchas and the daughters of Zelophehad present an important lesson of boldness in a proper context. Numbers 25:10–30:1 The actions of Pinchas teach us that when we see improper behavior, we shouldn’t just stand by and look away. We must boldly stand up for what is right and confront it, even if it goes against our nature. Like Pinchas, we must be loyal to God and His virtues. Loyalty is a virtue that drives success. The actions of the daughters of Zelophehad teach us that we can boldly stand up for ourselves in a respectful manner. When you feel that you are not being treated fairly, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and try to find a solution to the situation. When you are faced with challenges that demand courage, remember that there is a right time, a right place, and a right context for boldness.
